Recognizing the Efforts of Waste Aggregators: A Landmark Collaboration with Nestlé

On Monday, Chanja Datti LTD partnered with Nestlé to host a historic event: the largest incentives payout to plastic waste aggregators across Northern Nigeria. This monumental occasion not only celebrated the incredible achievements of these waste aggregators but also highlighted the transformative power of partnerships in driving sustainability.

Celebrating a Year of Dedication

Over the past 12 months, dedicated waste aggregators collected an impressive 17,000 tonnes of plastic waste—a remarkable feat that underscores their pivotal role in reducing plastic pollution in Nigeria. To honor their hard work and commitment, a total of ₦14 million was distributed among the aggregators during the event.

WAPAN’s Executive Committee (EXCOs) attended the event and expressed their joy at seeing their members’ efforts recognized and rewarded. This celebration is a testament to the value of waste pickers and aggregators in Nigeria’s circular economy and their critical contributions to environmental sustainability.

The Role of Partners in Driving Impact

This event was made possible through the unwavering support of NestlĂ© Nigeria and Chanja Datti LTD, showcasing the importance of collaboration in achieving shared sustainability goals. WAPAN’s partnership with these organizations exemplifies the “Partners” pillar of our 4Ps approach—People, Planet, Profit, and Partners—which emphasizes leveraging shared expertise and resources to amplify impact.

A special acknowledgment goes to Victoria Ndidiamaka Anyianuka and Chinwe Obi for their steadfast support and dedication to driving positive change within the waste management sector.

A Bright Future for Waste Aggregators

The success of this event reinforces WAPAN’s commitment to empowering waste pickers and aggregators across Nigeria. By creating opportunities for recognition and financial reward, we aim to:
