Who We Are
The Waste Pickers Association of Nigeria (WAPAN) is a non-profit organization committed to improving the livelihoods and working conditions of waste pickers across Nigeria. We advocate for the rights and welfare of waste pickers, promote sustainable waste management practices, and empower waste pickers to participate fully in society. As an inclusive community, we welcome waste pickers from all backgrounds and work collaboratively with stakeholders to drive policy changes and promote environmental sustainability. Through capacity building, research, and partnerships, we aim to create a more equitable and sustainable waste management sector in Nigeria. Join us in our mission to support waste pickers, protect the environment, and build a brighter future for all

Mission Statement:
Our Mission is to empower waste pickers in Nigeria by advocating for their rights, improving their working conditions, and promoting sustainable waste management practices. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive community where waste pickers are respected, valued, and have access to resources that enhance their livelihoods. Through our work, we are committed to achieving zero waste by promoting recycling, reusing, and reducing waste across Nigeria.
Vision Statement:
Our Vision is to build a society in Nigeria where waste pickers are recognized as key stakeholders in the waste management sector and play a vital role in promoting environmental sustainability. We envision a future where waste pickers have equal opportunities, access to education and training, and are integrated into decision-making processes that shape waste management policies. We aim to foster a clean and healthy environment that benefits all communities, and where waste pickers are valued for their contributions in creating a more sustainable and equitable society. Our ultimate goal is to achieve zero waste, where resources are conserved, and waste is minimized through innovative solutions and community engagement.
