Creating Awareness, Empowering Lives! 🌱♻️
Our dedicated WAPAN members engaging with waste pickers, spreading knowledge about sustainable waste management practices and empowering them for a better future. Together, we can make a positive impact on our environment and uplift the lives of waste pickers.
The President of the Waste Pickers Association of Nigeria (WAPAN) Comrade Salisu Ali Yareema recently appeared on one of the most-watched TV channels in Northern Nigeria, AREWA24 Television Network and Production Studio 🎉📺 During the interview, the President emphasized the importance of waste picking, processing, and recycling in Nigeria. With the highest population in Africa, Nigeria generates a massive volume of waste, reaching up to 32 million tons. This makes waste management a critical issue, especially as the world is grappling with climate change disasters. The President passionately highlighted the significance of waste pickers in our society and urged our youth to embrace the circular economy principles. Understanding the benefits of circular economy practices and respecting the environment is crucial for creating a sustainable future for Nigeria. We are immensely proud of our President’s efforts to raise awareness about the vital role waste pickers play in waste management and the urgent need to combat climate change. Let’s all come together to support and promote sustainable waste management practices for a greener and healthier Nigeria! 🌍💚
