WAPAN Stands Firm: Dissociation from Hunger Protests and Commitment to Ethical Practices

The President and Executive Committee of the Waste Pickers Association of Nigeria (WAPAN) would like to unequivocally dissociate both the association and our registered members from the ongoing hunger protests across Nigeria. It is crucial to state that our members are not involved in these protests in any capacity. Our association’s primary focus remains on promoting the welfare and professional interests of our members, ensuring they operate with integrity and respect within the community.

At WAPAN, we pride ourselves on maintaining high ethical standards, which is why we are making it clear that our members have been explicitly cautioned against buying or trading any vandalized or stolen items from protesters or any other sources. The reputation of our association is built on trust and ethical practices, and we are committed to upholding these values across all our operations.

Furthermore, we strongly urge all our members to remain peaceful and law-abiding during these challenging times. It is essential that we continue to respect our stance on integrity, ensuring that our activities contribute positively to society while safeguarding the dignity of our profession.

As we navigate these turbulent times, WAPAN remains dedicated to supporting its members through advocacy, education, and the promotion of sustainable waste management practices. We believe that by staying united and adhering to our principles, we can contribute to a better, more resilient Nigeria.

Long Live WAPAN! Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
