📰🌟 Exciting News Alert! 🌟📰

We are thrilled to announce that the page 9 Leadership Newspaper today published an article about WAPAN’s groundbreaking efforts in rebranding waste management practices in Nigeria! 🌱♻️

According to our Acting President, Comrade Salisu Ali Yarima, the aim of this rebranding is to make waste picking more functional and efficient. We are determined to reposition the association and create a positive impact on waste management in the country.

During the inaugural annual meeting of WAPAN held in Abuja, Comrade Yarima revealed our plans to collaborate with trade unions, government ministries, and agencies such as the Nigerian Labour Congress, Federal Ministry of Labour, and Federal Ministry of Environment. We are committed to working hand in hand with various stakeholders to achieve our goals.

WAPAN is proud of its affiliation with the International Alliance For Waste Pickers, and we are actively seeking more international collaborations to strengthen our efforts.

Our Acting President also expressed his concerns about the treatment of waste pickers in Nigeria. We are determined to change the narrative and create a new system where waste pickers can work without facing criminal accusations and harassment. Our dream is to ensure the recognition of waste pickers, reduce poverty, create employment opportunities, and promote food security in Nigeria.

We are excited about the positive impact our rebranding efforts will have on waste management practices in Nigeria. Together, we can create a cleaner and more sustainable future for our beloved country! 🇳🇬💚
